the Burn Revisited

6am, light filters through the blind,

i awake, instantly am on my feet  and thankful

for the ability to do that very simple thing.

i am dressed and outside

before i realize there is a chill, and

i fetch a jacket for my walk…

the sky is gray,

the air is chilled but clean and fresh …

the pace today is swift i know not why….

i feel the burn almost immediately,

my body is not yet accustomed to this early morning  activity,

but i press on

the road has little traffic

so i am free to stay in the paved lane…

the slope is a slight incline for the first 1/4 mile,…

then i turn the corner from the main

and the “hill” rears …ahead,

my heart sinks a bit as i comtemplate the ascent, ..

but press on, then …

the muscle pain wall asserts..

.i will it away ..

and force major,…

increase my pace…

i approach the summit of my hill…

heart pounding in my chest from the effort,….

breath laden with strong inhales …

i am invigorated, …..

charged with energy new,

i feel reborn again today

and ready for what may come.

this new thing of the am cardio walk,

could become habit…

as i make the summit

and turn for my descent,..

hands on knees for a moment…

i look down the hill from whence i came

and feel a small victory,…

for i have done it again…

i am stronger than i was…

time to return…

back down the slope now ,…

divergent muscle groups must slow the decent, …

almost as hard as ascending but not quite…

back home, now and 7am…

i am stoked,

this is new,

a feeling i have not had before,

yes

i believe this will become a habit…

what a wondeful way

to begin the journey of this new day.

We each of us have a trail to blaze,

today i must edit a  story that i recorded yesterday,

and will slog for hours infront of a computer screen,

and remember,..

when i get tired ..

.how i felt during this morning’s wake up,

during the walk.

I will cherish the morning burn

and ever strive to make the burn..

burn brighter…

each day i will push a little harder,

and try in earnest effort to not bore you with trivial pursuit…

oh wait…

isnt that what this Is???
