Snake Oil – or How to Avoid Buyers Remorse

Snake oil or how to avoid buyers remorse
You can’t know the difference between good and bad till you have experienced both.
Some people will tell you that it is better to learn from other people’s mistakes, and while empirically this may seem to be an axiom, the truth is lessor to be known that the reality is you cannot learn from other people’s mistakes, rather only can you observe them and attempt to assimilate their experience vicariously
Today I make reference to this as it may be a nouveau riche parable, of sorts…but caveat emptor
May the buyer beware, for snake oil salesmen have found a new mark my friends and it is you…
Yes, to be sure, while the days of old street vending con men have seemed to become long past, my friends, my ardent readers & listeners, take a long look around and heed the signs of the times…
For I am afraid you are not aware of the wiles used today to ensnare and entrap those who are wise…
Yes, you who think you are so smart, do not even see the ruses being played before your very eyes as they are couched in terms you have come to accept as the norm…
You blindly accept and trust anyone who “speaks” your language, because they have learned the science of instant rapport and have gained your trust unawares…you who have fallen beware…
Snake oil comes in many flavors today, and in all forms, whether he knocks at your door, writes to you in an official seeming letter, on the radio or tv, or internet…there are so many more ways for you be hoodwinked and brainwashed…
Nonsense you say…
.Just look at the signs…” buy more and SAVE” …. how obvious can they be? My friends…when you buy more…you do not save; you merely spend more for what you do not necessarily need…
SALE…huge discounts…if they can afford to discount, then they were charging too much to begin…
Hurry supplies limited…yes this is true, supplies are indeed limited to as many as they can get the unwary public to buy at these inflated prices…
Rebates…one of my favorites… rebates are a manufacturers best friend as basically it is tantamount to getting interest free, tax free money from the customer base without declaring it…and since many people are to lazy to actually claim their rebates…this then becomes found profits for the company…
This list here my friends is virtually endless and would comprise an entire volume if I had the patience to write it..
I bring you this measure of awareness simply to call you attention to the fact that our society is not an honest one… for truly if business were honest they would say something like this…

.Hi there, folks… we want you to buy some of our stuff, you probably don’t need it right now, but we are attempting to make our pricing schemes appear to you as if we are selling at a loss to entice you to buy now…truth be told we are still making a huge profit …but please buy it anyway…

As in all things when dealing with the markets and sales people, a little knowledge can go a long way and you need to be on your toes… do not buy anything you do not need or that do not really want before you saw the ads for that product…
Do not go shopping for anything if you are hungry, and this even works for clothes and hardware and all other things… for if you are physically hungry your body will signal the brain and the brain will fire off the signals of desire… to the conscious mind, (this is interpreted as I want syndrome), and the I want urge does not understand the difference between food and hardware…it just wants…
And poor you fall victim to the I wants even in a hardware store…you end up getting things you don’t need…and only “think” you want…later you may also experience… what was I thinking”
The very same tactic can be applied to anything you seek to purchase or acquire…to greater of lessor degrees…physical hunger a very important role in all activities whether we are aware of it or not…and for Goodness sakes, have some lunch before you go shopping for that new car or house…
